Why Baroque music is the best music for work

When I work on design projects, there’s usually Baroque music playing in my headphones.

Here are three reasons why I think Baroque music is perfect as background music for work.

It does not have lyrics

Like most classical music, excpet for opera, it doesn’t have singing to distract you.

It has predictable beats

Unlike some moody romantic era classical music, Baroque music has pretty predictable rhythm that doesn’t get your brain sucked in wondering when the next beat will drop.

It has emotions, but just enough

You want to keep fairly calm when you’re working, and composers like Chopin or Shostakovich tend to suck me into a emotional vortex, rightly so because the music is really good! But not suitable for working.

Baroque music usually has passages that are positive, and ones that are a little melancholic, but it never strays from a set formula, so you won’t catch yourself fantasizing something tragic all of a sudden!

Telemann, vivaldi, Rameau, Purcell and Locke are some of my favorite composers from the Baroque era. You should give their music a try next time you head into the office!
